There are times when we feel as if our life is turned upside down. Perhaps you feel as if you have hit rock bottom. You may feel stuck. Perhaps feelings of frustration emerge. You may become fearful that things may never improve. You may take actionable steps to turn your life around; however, another setback knocks you down. You may want to give up.
I have experienced the above-mentioned thoughts and emotions. The past 9 months have been extremely challenging for me as I have been dealing with a health issue. During this time, I saw a number of specialists and went through multiple tests. Most specialists did not have a definite answer for me, which left me feeling defeated and increasingly worried. I wanted to just give up. However, I knew that I could not live like this as it was not sustainable. I continued to research and explore different options. I am glad that I did because I finally received an answer and a treatment plan. I am now on the mend, but I still experience some off days.
Due to this health concern, I had to reduce the number of hours that I work. Additionally, I would hold off on making plans in advance as I was worried about having an off day. I have experienced feelings of frustration in all of this uncertainty. To this day, I still remain a little fearful that this treatment plan will only bring about temporary relief.
My first response to this setback was undeniably a negative one. It has taken some time for me to see the silver lining in all this. First, I had to slow down. My body was telling me that the speed that I was going at was not sustainable. Second, I now have a greater appreciation for my body and all that it does for me. Third, I have a closer relationship with my family that involves more open and honest dialogue.
In light of our current situation, you may feel as if your life has been turned upside down with all this uncertainty. I just want to let you know that you are not alone in this. We are in this together. Feel free to reach out to me if you would like to talk.
Stay safe everyone and take care!
