This is a back-bending posture that helps create a lovely arch in our low back body (lumbar).
Sphinx Pose can help strengthen and improve mobility in our spines. This posture is especially good for those who spend the vast majority of their day sitting down on a chair or a couch.
This pose offers a lovely stretch to our front body (chest, shoulders, abs). Back bends are said to bring some energy to the body!
I will suggest strategies that I find really useful as we explore this pose. The purpose of this practice is not only to discover how to do the pose, but also how to find ease in this posture.
