Restorative Yoga For Lower Back Pain

Welcome to your Restorative Yoga practice for Lower Back Pain. This class includes gentle stretches and relaxing postures that can help alleviate lower back pain, discomfort and stiffness.

It is super important to breathe deeply throughout this practice. The breath can help reduce tension throughout the entire spine.

We will make use of props in today's class. You will need a bolster. If you do not have a bolster, then please bring at least 2 firm pillows to your space and/or 2 or more blankets. You can make your own bolster using these household items.

Restorative yoga flows are extremely gentle on the body. With that said, if you experience any pain or discomfort throughout our practice, kindly back out of the posture. Try a different option or find a comfortable seat of your choosing. Wherever you land, focus on your breath.

Low back pain is quite common and happens for a variety of reasons. It could be due to wear and tear on the joints over time. This could be the result of repetitive actions, improper lifting or age. Lower back pain could be due to poor posture habits, structural problems with the spine, an injury, weak core muscles, and disc problems. If the pain is chronic, imaging may be very helpful in determining the reason for the pain.

It is my hope that this practice serves you well.

Take it easy. Drink lots of water (the spine LOVES water). And remember to breathe. Belly breathing can help alleviate tension in the lower back body.
