Yoga for Joy and Happiness
Yoga for Joy and Happiness! In today’s yoga class, we explore postures and breathwork that can help cultivate feelings of joy and happiness.
Do you say to yourself, “I would be happier if I only had _________.” You can fill in that blank.
I have said this numerous times throughout my entire life.
“I’ll be happier once I have graduated from university.”
“I know I will be happier once I have a job in my field.”
“I will be happier when I no longer have to rent.”
These statements can go on and on and on.
These statements rob me of joy and happiness. Period. This is because my happiness is coming from external elements. That’s not to say that things outside of you cannot evoke feelings of joy and happiness. Of course they can!
With that being said, consider how you would feel if you didn’t land that dream job. Or how you would feel if that dream job wasn’t what you expected. Or maybe you didn’t graduate because of an external factor that was beyond your control. Perhaps you were unable to buy a home due to the market conditions.
What if your happiness was dependent on these three things? How would you feel if things didn't go according to plan?
In today’s class, we explore tools and strategies that can help us cultivate joy and happiness from within.
It is important to note that everyone shows up on the mat with different experiences and understandings. What I say in this practice may or may not resonate with you. I invite you to apply what resonates with you, and leave what doesn’t.
It is my hope that your heart feels lighter following this practice.
Namaste.
